Emmerich's 1983 letter also states an estimated value of $15,000–$25,000 at that time.

A Classic period Mayan stucco head of notable scale and presence. Stucco sculpture of this type was produced throughout the Classic Maya period (c. 250–900 AD) and was used extensively in architectural decoration, particularly on temple facades, friezes, and funerary contexts. The modeling of such heads demonstrates the sophisticated sculptural tradition of the Maya, with careful attention to facial structure and surface detail. This example comes with exceptional provenance documentation: a copy of the original 1974 purchase receipt from Maurice Alpert, Atlanta, GA, and a 1983 letter from prominent New York dealer Andre Emmerich confirming the work was imported into the United States on or before April 24, 1972, the date the UNESCO Cultural Property Convention came into effect in the US, establishing its legal pre-Convention status. Emmerich valued the piece at $15,000–$25,000 in 1983.
