Presents with the rich tonal depth and luminous quality that distinguishes Curtis photogravures on Dutch Van Gelder paper. Santo Domingo Pueblo, one of the largest and most traditionally conservative of the Rio Grande Pueblos in present-day New Mexico, was a subject of particular significance to Curtis, whose documentation of Pueblo life produced some of the most compelling images in his monumental project, The North American Indian (1907–1930).
